Why Does Easter Matter?
I hope gas prices will go down! I hope spring will come soon! I hope my team will make the tournament or win!
Sometimes our hope is simply wishful thinking. That’s ok when it comes to things like gas prices and sunshine—we’ll survive even if things don’t turn out the way we hope. But what about when we hope about things much more important?
I hope death doesn’t come soon, for me or those I love. And if it does, I hope it isn’t the end!
Without the message of Easter, those hopes are just wishful thinking. Without Easter, we have no reason to expect anything but death in the end.

Without Easter, we have no reason to expect anything but death in the end.
That’s actually what Jesus followers thought, too, when their teacher, Jesus, died on the cross. “That’s it! There goes our hopes and dreams! Death means that it’s all over.”
But on that first Easter morning, Jesus rose again from the dead. Death wasn’t the end!
God fully delivered on his promises.
